Alanson Area Public Library offers an ever-growing collection of library materials including bestsellers, children and young adult collections, large print materials, audio books, a Michigan collection, and movies on DVD and VHS. They also house the Emmet County Genealogical Society’s collection of research materials.
The Alanson Area Public Library’s memberships in the Superiorland Library Cooperative, a consortium of over 40 libraries located throughout the northern Lower and Upper Peninsulas and in Mel Cat. The statewide catalog allows them to offer inter-library loan services to supplement the physical collection, with the ability to request materials from libraries nationwide. Access to Mel’s database of hundreds of full-text journals further increase the patron’s research capabilities.
The Alanson Area Public Library also has eight computers for public use (an Alanson Area Public Library card or temporary Guest Pass is required for use) and wi-fi for those with I-Pads and or laptops. Patrons may access e-books through the Overdrive link on our Catalog page, and sign up to receive free online magazines from Zinio.
